Guess the emperor before the picture clears

He disliked his childhood nickname, loved extravagant projects and ruled for less than four years. One blurred portrait, a new clue with every guess, one name. Can you get it before the picture clears?

Rome had dozens of emperors, and most of them are remembered for one thing: a wall, a fire, a horse. Today's emperor is remembered for several, and few of them are flattering.

Here is how it works. You start with a blurred portrait and four clues. Every wrong guess sharpens the picture and unlocks another clue. The fewer guesses you need, the more points you score. Type your guess whenever you are sure, or give up and let us tell you.

Got it in one? Then you were paying more attention in history lessons than most senators did.
